Work has started in the bay area. While we are pondering the move, I’ve been shacking up on the bay. A look at the back patio overlooking the Richmond point marina.

Christian Valcke, Ph.D., Appointed as Nanomix Vice President of Research & Development

Emeryville, CA. – September 7, 2004 – Nanomix, Incorporated, today confirmed the appointment of Christian Valcke, Ph.D., as Vice President of Research and Development to lead the company’s research and development activities and product commercialization agenda. In this position, Dr. Valcke will report to David Macdonald, President and CEO of Nanomix.

Dr. Valcke has over 17 years experience in commercial research and development including many projects related to FDA regulated diagnostic and drug delivery systems. Born in Belgium, Dr. Valcke obtained his undergraduate degree at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. His professional preparation continued with M.S. in Systems Sciences and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also completed a postdoctoral program in Anesthesiology and an executive management program at UCSD. Dr. Valcke holds a number of publications, patents and awards.

His early career was spent developing a closed-loop drug delivery system for pharmacological stress testing. Dr. Valcke’s most recent appointment was as Vice President of Systems Development at Nanogen in San Diego, CA. Prior to this he served as the Director of Biomedical Development, Gensia Automedics in San Diego, CA.

Another year has slipped by. First birthday in a long time without a job! (left Nanogen on Thursday, start new job on Tuesday). Had a great end of summer beach bash with wonderful friends, SoCal weather and some awesome waves.

Today was the last day of my 6 years at Nanogen. Since this is a publicly accessible blog with a publicly traded company, my comments are limited to the appreciation of all the friends, past and present, I have enjoyed at the ngen.

It’s Wednesday, Sep 1 and that means first day of school for Nicholas. Entering second grade at Nativity with Ms. Foley. Everyone is very excited!
